Do Christians get sick? How about depressed? Cancer, back pain, Head aches, upset stomach? Anger, rage, mental illness etc. Please tell me what problems do Christian not have, that unbelievers do have? Seems pretty much the same Hugh? WHY? Where are the promises of God about good health ( Deut. 28:2)? The blessings overtaking us (Prov. 4:21,22)? The sicknesses of Egypt and others not coming on us.
Salvation is Free (Eph.2:8,5,10), God’s love is Free. But just like any good Dad he has expectations of his children. He did say we should seek him. Love him with all that we have. To love our neighbors as our self. I hate to have to tell you but blessings are often conditional on our behavior (Is. ch 58, 59). It is not just love and grace. It is love, grace, and RESPONSIBILITY. It does say if you love God you will obey his commandments etc.(John 14: 15, 21). Now in Christ you are one SPIRIT with God (1 Cor. 6:16) and therefore you can obey what God wants as you are lead (Rom 8:14) or not lead because of unbelief, doubt, or rebellion.
Now that I have said that, we can go on. When you start your salvation experience, the spirit change happens. You cross over the Jordan river so to speak into the promised land like the Israelis. Then the question God wants to know is will you purify yourself (wash, devote yourself, celebrate Jesus Christ (Passover) and circumcise your heart (Josh. ch 5 ). Then after they were circumcised, the reproach of Egypt is taken from off you. Why circumcise the heart (Rom. 3:)? It is so you will be sensitive to the Spirit of God and do as he bids so that he can bless you in every way, and have the close loving relationship he wants so much with you (James 4:8-10).
The soul is liken to the land of Israel. When you come in you are expected to fight the residents until they, and all they have, animals … are dead (1Sam. 15:4), are utterly destroyed. God said you are to posses your soul, land, and protect it. When you accepted Christ you did not become perfect did you? Did all the blessings over take you suddenly? Can you walk on water? Well maybe you can but just haven’t tried yet? Not to be smug, but light does have something to do with darkness, it is to fight it, replace it, make it runaway! Preferably destroy it completely. There will be no darkness in Heaven, Rev. ch 21.
In Genesis, God said if you do well, you will be accepted. But if not, sin crouches at the door Gen. 4:7. So is the Devil. Quite frankly we have all sinned. We have in the past given into the flesh and become a slave to perverted desires because the devils have part of our souls (mind, will, emotions) and dwell in them and our flesh, just as Paul did in his flesh. The word is IN (Mark ch 5 and Matt. Ch 16) not on, not around, not oppress. So enough with the demonic arguments and lets go forward.
O.K. so where are the demons? They are in your soul and flesh in relation to the areas that you have sinned. They are also in the earth, and on the earth, sky, known universe, and on the request of God, in the third heaven before his throne. Why in you, you may ask? The result of a curse due to your rebellion to God, they are there for a painful chastening to help you to come back to God’s way, in general most of the time for believers. For unbelievers it is to punish and to destroy them unless they repent. Which can still be our outcome if our love grows cold for Jesus Christ ( spit us out of his mouth).You let them in, in detail, for the love of money, physical pleasure, comfort, fear, control and witchcraft, fame, and the sin of omission – not doing what God says, not hearkening to his voice, and hearkening to the voice of your wife instead of Gods! etc. (Adam, Abraham, others did with severe consequences).
