How can one tell how God has worked in one’s life without writing pages forever for another to read. Each time I sit to write about God’s loving care for me, I know more will be around the corner tomorrow. So, the best thing to do is create a snapshot of time, and if after reading it, one needs more info, I will be glad to discuss.
I am not country, but through God’s grace and mercy, I did get my dog back, my job back, my children back, my house back, my wife back, and my life back; only better. It didn’t come without blood, sweat, tears, and effort, but it did come.
Over 6 years ago, I had it made: great job, wonderful wife, great children, debt-free, thought to be following God – taking the family to church…model family. Then..I raised my hand and said “God, I want to know you more than I do now.”. God is not the only one that saw me raise my hand. Within a few months time, Satan lit an explosion that literally rocked me and my family. I lost my job, my eldest ran away, my wife divorced me and took the children, we barely escaped foreclosure only with a sale for a low price. All this time, I could not understand what was happening, with no visible help in sight. I was constantly asking God ” What was happening?” with no apparent answer.
Then, over time, God placed Mark Goodman in my path: a man my wife and I had originally called a rebel. But, as God worked times for me and Mark to interact, God moved me to listen to what Mark had to say.
Through discussions with Mark, reading specific scriptures, listening to tapes of deliverance workers, I slowly yielded to God, worked at obeying His commandments, and used the authority in Christ, that had been available to me all along as a believer, to cleanse God’s temple(me) of demonic residents.
Through the next years, God changed me to care about my wife and children as He wanted me to; not how I thought. I prayed for years prayers of coverage for my wife and children. After 2 years of prayer, my wife, who didn’t believe in deliverance, left me a voice mail message stating “We are definitely in spiritual warfare!”. At that point I knew God had honored my prayers by breaking down the barriers to my wife’s mind. From that point on, we have both grown together in deliverance as we battle to gain our children back.
It was a battle, is a battle, and will continue to be a battle, and with God’s assurance I know this is where I need to be. And for the first time in my life, I am content with what I am doing in my life. Praise God!
